Trunk Won't Close Anymore

OK I've got a '90 Rally Sport Z28 Camaro. I recently opened my trunk/hatch (whatever it's called) with the key, and when I went to close it, Nothing happened. It wont latch and the noise I usually hear (an automatic latching mechanism) isn't present. I have tried unscrewing the small 2" by 3½" (didnt actually measure) piece with the metal plate where the two contacts from the trunk touch to (apparently) complete the curcuit to the automatic trunk shutting thing, I checked all the connections I could see and everything appeared to be fine.
Would this be a blown fuse? I looked at the fuses and didn't see one labeled but I didn't have time to pull out each fuse one by one to check if any were blown... Should I do that? It rained last night so I had to rig up a hanger to my lic. plate and that is just not gunna do. Has any1 else had this Problem? and/or Does any1 have any suggestions?

check fuses first, but the motor could be bad. And when you shut these, you just set it down till it hits the motor, then it grabs it from there and closes it, do NOT slam it down!!

yeah more than likely the motor is bad.. just replace the whole unit.. its held down by four bolts, unplug, plug in the replacement and thats it.
