Kuhmo Ecsta 712's

I just ordered a set of Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's. Any good or bad comments for these. I got the 195-50-15 I use them for daily driving and I got them fo $241 shipped. is this good? thanks

Why did you pick 195/50x15" and not the OEM size 195/55x15" or even 205/50x15" for a larger contact patch. I use the Kumho 712s for my daily driver and last year used them as autocross tires with good results. I'm running Azenis now with better results :)

the shorter sidewall helps keep it from rubbing because it is so low. I am working on raising it up a little bit but i need taller springs. the 205's will rub also. Plus the shorter the sidewall the stiffer.

Anywho, I'm still rolling my Ecsta 711's and still to date, not a single complaint about them. They corner like they are glued to a track in the ground, and they even stick well when the road is wet, shich is a nice plus, not that I need to carve corners in the rain, but it's nice to know I can if I really had to. My only gripe (so I lied) is that they seem to track better on curves than they do going in a straight line down the highway, maybe that's an alignment issue? :confused: Anywho, I'm gonna be getting my SCCA "SpeedFreakz" membership soone, and plan on auto-x'ing on these tires. Anythoughts, suggestions, CivicSiRacer?

205/50x15" shouldn't rub. I'm running the Azenis in that size and the Azenis are supposed to be wider than an actual 205/50x15" tire.

Hehe :) Starting back in 1996 I've had about 7 different sets of tires: Toyo FZ4, Yokohama A520 (205/40x17" and 215/40x16"), Kumho 712s, Kumho VictorRacers (195/50x15" and 205/50x15"), Falken Azenis 215/45x16" and 205/50x15".
Yes the Kumhos need pressure to make them turn better. Something I've learned in autocross. You cannot step on the gas when going into a turn - so basically I've learned to let up on the gas to get the weight to transfer forward to get the front tires to bit, then 1/2 way or 3/4 way through the turn then get on the gas. :)

i just got my new wheels and tires. ive never had "good" tires until now but man on these tires i can corner like mad. i do have a few complaints though i have 16x7 wheels and 45 tires and i rub pretty bad and it is soooo anoying. i think i should have gotten 40s.

Get a 2 or 3 mm spacer. That's what I did with my wheels.

A wheel spacer is a ring that goes between the wheel and the hub, pushing the wheel out further so the wheel/tire can clear suspension components.
Most racing shops can order them for you, but Pep Boys and Autozone's spacers are TOO larger (thick) and will push the wheel out too far and then you will be rubbing the outer fenderwells.

well I have the tires on now and they rub. They rubbed all the way thru the plastic fenderwells. so the 205's would have done the same.if not worse. The tires are awesome. Oh yeah they rub because my car is dropped about 4-5 ".
