Air/fuel gauge question...

Okay, this isn't really a dsm specific question but here goes...
I bought one of the autozone brand a/f gauges for my car and the bosche single wire o2 sensor. I installed everything exactly as the instructions stated but for some reason the gauge reads all the way rich all the time. It just stays rich whether the o2 sensor is plugged in or not. I'm not sure if it's a faulty sensor or faulty gauge....I've tried driving around to heat up the o2 sensor but to no avail. What could it be? Thanks for any help guys.

Is the o2 sensor a wideband one? IIRC (and I probably dont) the stock ones are not widebands but you need a wideband to us an A/F guage.

Did you hook the air to fuel ratio gauge wire into the right wire in the o2 sensor. Most likly you pluged it into the positive power line is why it is reading rich all the time.

No it's not a wideband, I was just following one of the right ups someone did for the a/f gauge. Either way a single wire o2 sensor can be used but for some reason my gauge will not move at all it just stays on the farthest green setting. I'm thinking it's broken.
