Sometimes, when you accelerate from a stop, the engine just dies. It doesn't stall, it just acts like it has no power to move the car for about 5 seconds. No engine lights come on while this is happeneing. I have applied fuel injector cleaner, but the problem is still there. It doesn't act like a fuel filter probelm, as the car will pull a long hill under acceleration without any problem. Again, this is a very intermittent problem the service garage can't find it please help

thanks

What size engine is in you car, I have a 2.4L Quad in my 96 GT and was having a hesitation problem like yours but mine was doing it between shifting gears ( I have a 5 speed manual trans). My problem was also intermit. and whan if finally atarted doing it all ot the time it turned out to be a bad coil pack, that took care of the problem but then later it came back, actually it came back several times and when it did I replaced the coil packs a few times and then it acted up again and I was able to get a code on the OBDII and it was the ignition module itself. replaced it and have not had the problem for about 2 years and about 10,000 miles, I now have about 130,000miles.

I hope this helps, If you have the 2.4L and decide to try the coil packs it is something you can do yourself for about $35.00 instead of a garage charging $250.00. I change mine so often that I could do the complete change in about 10min or less.

Good Luck,
Dan

i had that problem that ONLY happened when i was starting from a stop and in very low RPM (5-speed tranny). It turned out to be my spark plugs. Check those out before you spend too much money
