Hey guys i was wondering if a carbon fiber driveshaft is really necessary due to its price. I've read forums about it shattering and not as good as the oem one, but i'd really like to hear from you guys. As of my horsepower range, i'm not really sure because i haven't dynoed it yet. But right now i have the following parts:

Engine:
HKS 264 272 camshafts
HKS camgears
JDM lifters
Crower Titanium Retainers and Springs
Ferrea Valves (1 mm over)
Port and Polished Head
Port and Polished stock intake manifold
Cometic Head Gasket
ARP Head Studs
JE Pistons (.02 over)
Eagle Rods w/ ARP rod bolts
Kings Main and Rod Bearings
Balanced Crank
Balance shaft removed
Following parts are new :
Block Freeze Plugs
Oil pump
Water pump
All timing and crank pulleys and belts
All gaskets and seals

Bolt-ons:
Slowboy FMIC w/ HKS BOV
GM MAFT
Polyuerthane Motor Mounts
Fluidyne Radiator
SPAL puller fan
RRE oil catch-can
FP 4" intake w/ K&N filter
60-1 T3/T4
Tial 38mm wastegate
Victory O2 housing
Apexi 3" downpipe
custum straight pipe through Apexi N1
ACT Streetlite Flywheel
ACT Extreme pressure plate 2600
ACT Street disc (hope but might burn)
TRE fully rebuilt with all of extra modification
with SPOOL instead of spider gears (busted and unreusable basket)

Fuel:
Walbro 255 lph
-6AN fuel line from tank to rail
Aeromotive rail
Aeromotive regulator
750cc RC injectors

Electrics:
PLX M-300 wideband
Dsmlink
MG ECU (don't really matter, but its new)
BR coil on plug
MSD Dis-2
NGK plugs

i think thats all i got excluding Defi gauges and Blitz turbo timer.
Well anyways, alittle help on the driveshaft might help.
Thanks alot guys!!

welcome to AF

post your year and model in your sig. This kind of question and others require knowing if you're FWD, AWD, etc.

nice setup btw

I would be worried about shattering it on that 60-1. I would just stick to OEM. I think the OEM can take basically anything you throw at it, I think the carbon ones are just to cut down on weight.

Do they make a titanium one? That would be strong as hell and yet light too. If weight isn't a concern tungsten would be a good material--almost unbreakable. They make rings out of the stuff that comes with a warning: "In an emergency (finger swells up or somthing) ring cannot be cut off as normally would be done..." I guess you can run over it and it won't scratch whatsoever. Sorry, end rant. :D

It would have to be awd the don't make cv shafts like that...

Personally i was looking into the carbon fiber driveshafts as well. I don't see it necessary for me at this point. How much hp are you puttin down? The only company I've seen is acpt and they're like a grand. I don't think anyone on here has personal experience with them.
