Check your local insurance regs., in NYS the owner gets the check not the body shop, if you have not gone to a body shop and the insurance adjuster has not negotiated with the shop for an agreed price, I don't hink they can write the check to any one but you.

ya you need an estamate or two and the insurance company should give you the check if thats how you want it done. I hav state farm and I do my own repairs, so to be fair I get an estimate from someone else and they write the check to me :)
And usually the work can be done your self for a lot less ;) Unless it needs the frame straightend or other Major work.

In PA, My experience with State Farm...One of their indured hit me in a parking lot, I called his insurance and they directed me to one of their estimate service buildings ( it is literally a drive thru) I drove into the bay and the adjuster came out of the office looked at the damage went back into the office looked up the parts...asked if Japaneese body parts could be used, of course I said No! he wrote it up, cut ME a check and off to the bank I went.
The adjuste rmay just cut you a check right there.
Good luck

I have state farm as well, and they cut the check right to me. so did other insurance companys from other accidents i've been in. As long as you get an estimate, and they're adjuster give ones they should send you the check.
