The new 2007 Opel GT has the turbochaged, 2.0 liter I-4 from the 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP. The engine has direct injection and the turbo is a dual-scroll type. It will have at least 260 hp and will go on sale in a coupe of months.
The new Opel GT will be built in Wilmington, Delaware.
Dual-scroll means that the exhaust manifold and turbine housing have two pathways for exhaust to flow. This allows the exhaust gases from the two cylinders that fire won't be mixed with the other two that aren't fired.
You can see the split in the turbine housing below.

It was previously thought that GM wouldn't sell a new Kappa-based sports car in Europe due to new European pedestrian safety regulations. The new Pontiac Solstice uses GM's Kappa chassis.
"The policies take effect in 2005 and require [European] auto makers to design extra space between the exterior surface and the underhood structure from the front bumper to the windshield [for brand-new cars made after late 2005]. The 8-in. (20-cm) gap is expected to reduce the severity of pedestrian injuries by better dispersing the impact energy of a person striking a front end."

The new Opel GT likely gets around the new European regulations because it is built in the U.S.
People think that auto makers should compensate for poor drivers and/or pedestrians. Europe has a lot of pedestrian deaths in car crashes relative to the U.S.

I see the kinship to the '70's gt in the speedo, tach and gauges, but byond that? I'd buy one in a second ig the headlights rotated up like on the old ones!
