Engine stops running usally within a mile or two from starting destination, car will start back up, but shuts right back off. Hooked scanner to data link and one code appears P0101. Erase this code and car will start and drive just fine. Replaced Mass Air Flow Sensor twice, same results. Problem does not always happen every trip, sometimes it doesnt occur for two or three trips, and some weeks its every day. I get the same code every time and I have spark and fuel as I stated earlier the car will start up after it stalls but shuts right back off. Erase the code and the car runs fine until next trip. Do you think the ECM is bad?

It sounds like you may be getting air flow from somewhere other than through the MAF. Check for vacuum leaks and T/B gasket leaks. Also, check operation of EGR, MAP sensor, and PCV valve. Do you get the same code everytime it stalls? When the car shuts off, do you have spark and good fuel pressure? Are the injectors plusing?

Lots of poor quality maf's on the aftermarket also.

If the maf was bad how could you erase code and have the engine run fine? Someone help please!!!!

You need a full scan to look at what all the sensors are sending the pcm for input, not just a code reader. As you see clearing the code only has a temporary reset benefit. As HotZ28's post says other sensors or unmetered air can skew the maf readings and affect engine performance.
