Mark VIII vs. Acura TL

OK....so i was cruisin on my way back home around midnight and at a stoplight an 04-05 Acura TL pulls up next to me. We look at each other and we know whats going to happen next. Light turns green and we take off. Now I have a 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII which is a gigantic hunk of metal to get moving so the TL jumps me off the line. It keeps about a car length ahead of me until 30 mph when my first gear is really starting to wind out. Once I hit 55mph (the end of my 1st gear) i roll into second which is where the performance of my car really begins to show. At 60 we are dead even and at 65 I begin to pull on him foot by foot. We rode it all the way to 120 mph where I had put quite a few car lengths between me and the TL :naughty: . It was an exciting race but the Mark VIII came out on top due to its wonderful highway acceleration! I got some nice modifications comin along and I cant wait to see what it can do after that!

Nice kill with a sweet car. That's one of my all time fav Ford vehicles. My buddy's parents used to have one, very cool and pretty damn fast.

How is your air ride suspension in the back doing? Is it going out yet? That system costs a bunch to repair.

Is it just me, or is a first gear that tops out at 55 extremely long? Fourth gear tops out at what? 200 MPH? If I'm wrong and stupid, just tell me so.

1st gear = 55 mph
2nd gear = 98 mph
3rd gear = 125 (limited by gov...RPM's at 4)
4th gear = 135 with RPM's at 3...gov really stops the car there....im getting a chip to take that shit OFF!!!

In reply to "How is your air ride suspension in the back doing? Is it going out yet? Needless to say I was pissed and now have a respect for speed and turning (it has made me a better driver) and it cost me $2000 to replace the front and rear suspension air bags, air sensors, control arms, struts, cracked 2 rims, and the list goes on but it makes me cry....:frown: . Anyway...im glad i learned from it and got something out of it other than just a normal hole in my wallet without the life lesson!

they make a kit to convert the car to conventional spring and shock/strut suspension if you don't feel like fixing the air system either. Makes the car drive like a thunderbird, but I'd probably do it if I had one.

Nice kill, I'm not much of a Ford man but some of those Lincolns are damn fine.
