Possible Oil Pressure Prob?

Hey,
'88 XJ Laredo 4.0L Auto 4WD.
Donno if this is a potential prob or not... Lately I've been noticing when I'm idling the Oil Pressure is a little over 40# (Cold or Warmed up).
I haven't driven it around to see if it (the Oil Pressure) would go down. I vaguely recall it being less than 40# like around 30# when Cold or Warm.
I'm using Castrol Syntec 10w40 and PureOne Oil Filter. This engine is a Reman and was put in about 5k miles ago.
No signs of overheating and since my conversion to the open system she runs nice and cool never going above 210 deg (where the dual electric fans are set to kick in). Cools down in less than a min too (when it reaches 210) to 190!
Do you think I've a potential Oil Pressure Prob?
Thx, Phil

The oil pressure sender is not all that accurate.

Sounds like you have a bad oil sender unit which is not uncommon for Jeep espicially one as old as yours. Does the check engine light come on????

My '88 with 166K starts at 40+ cold and drops to about 16 at hot idle. Iuse 10w30.
Did change out the sending units with the reman engine?

Hey Saudade,
Sorry haven't been here in awhile and just saw your question.
I don't believe so, with the Reman Engine the mech reused most of the sensors from the old. So for the past five years or so it's been running really crappy with the occassional overheating.
Hence time/cashwise, I've been gradually changing the sensors as well as solved my overheating with the closed to open mod.
Incidentally, I had a Engine Oil Cooler put in at the same time as the Reman Engine might that be the culprit?
MACDAD - No, Ck Engine Light remains off. But also could be due to bulb being burnt. I've never even seen it on! lol
Thx, Phil:)
