Sorry to start another thread guys but I'm about ready to pull my hair out!! Is there a simple way to check for a bad coil pack? With the engine running, I pulled each plug wire one at a time from each coil pack and each post on each coil pack emitted good spark except the last coil pack. One post was emitting good spark and the other post had no spark emitting from it. Bad coil pack??? Thanks guys!!!

If you have a bad coil pack it is toss a code (CEL; check engine light) for a missfire. Now that doesn't mean the coil is bad. To test to see if the coil is bad you would move that coil do if different location and see if the missfire code move to the new cyclinder.

This is based on +98 setup that have a coil over each cylinder that can be moved to another cly.

Glad you got it!

When I did my belt a few months ago, I found it was off a couple of teeth. It didn't seem to make a big difference. On the other hand, when my little 2.0L Jetta was off a tooth or so, it ran like crap.
