Hello, I am new to Pontiac and I want to buy a Grand Prix. Which year and Model Is the most reliable? Also, which model has Bose speakers. Thanks!

Mine is a 97GTP, I have only had it for a little over a month. I have always been a RWD kind of guy and this is also the first GM I have owned. I am actually quite pleased with it overall. The 97 I have had the monsoon system in it. I believe you will probably need to look at one newer than 2000 for the bose. Also depends on if that option was purchased on the car.

Get any grand prix over 1997.
As for the BOSE system, if you get a used GP, just upgrade the speaker system, trust me, its better than bose

you will probably get a lot of different opinions on this since some people may have had better luck with certain years than others, but according to the AIS reliability ratings, 00, 01, and 03 are the more reliable years. overall, it gave a 5 out of 5 for those years, and a 4 out of 5 ofor the others, so you the grand prix's as a whole are a pretty damn good car. some members with the 97's - 99's have had great luck with theirs. the key if you are buying a used one is previous maintenance and care. get a carfax and grill the owner!

As with any car, it's more about how it was treated. All 97-03 Grand Prix's are above GM's average for dependability. My 99 GT has so far been trouble free. The biggest issues with all 97-03 GP's are hub bearings, blower motor resistors and ignition switch problems. There are year specific things like 01-02 catalytic converters (covered under an extended warranty) and minor wiring/electrical issues on 97-98's, but if you get a good price, and stick with the 3800 and supercharged versions, you should be happy with your purchase. If you find a car that you're interested in, get me the last 8 of the vin and I can tell you what optional equipment is has.

knock on wood, ive been very please w/ my 97 gtp for the past 2 1/2 years. the previous owner babied it and it still runs great for me with very few troubles. cleaning the injectors was about the biggest problem ive had, which is very minimal.
