on saturday i had to watch my civic with a b18c1 get towed away on a flat bed. it started but the idle was low so i gave it gas and it stalled. i tryed to start it back up but it wouldnt turn over. it ran fine right before i parked it. the fuel pump was working. i checked the distributor to see if there was a spark but there wasnt. some one told me that it could be the timing belt and if it was that my valves could be fucked up too. is it possible that the timing belt went and the distributor getting no spark. if any one knows what it could or might be please help me out. thanks

check engine light......
if you had it on a flat bed why didnt you have it delivered to a mechanic?
how do you know the fuel pump is working?
how many miles on the car?
give as much detail as you can please

the check engine light has been on since i put the engine in. i delivered it to a mechanic but they said they cant get to it till next week. i know the fuel pump is working because i heard it priming. the motor has about 50,000 miles on it. i drove it about 10 minutes from my house and parked it. i gave it a good run in vtec before i parked it. the gas was kinda low but i have already ran it lower than what it was. i parked it on a slight incline. i came out a half hour later and it started but at low idle. i gave it gas and it stalled out. i tried to start it again and it wouldnt turn over. i went and got gas and put it in and it still wouldnt start. i checked to see if there was a spark from the plug wires but there wasnt any. the engine cranked fine. i didnt hear any noises. i just want to know the worst possible scenario before i find out what is actually wrong.

hehe.....worst possible scenario, hmmm, well if you have no spark it should not be too pricy as long as the mechanics find the issue pretty quick. If you have not been messing with the car they should be able to pinpoint it pretty quick......most charge $65ish an hour. I'd say worse case scenario your ECU could be shot....but thats a wildcard.

Well pop your distributor cap and crank your engine. If your rotor spins, then your timing belt is still intact. If your valves are screwed up, you will hear that from a mile away. If there is no spark, then it could be your coil, or ignitor, or the main relay. You can google to find ways of check these components. But if you have a mechanic, have him run through all that.

If your engine turns over without weird noises, I think you should not worry about any major internal damage.

everything works though so i dont think it could be the ecu.

the rotor spins. it was built up with carbon so i scraped it off to see if it might get a spark but it still wasnt turning over.

You mean not starting... Not turning over usually means that the starter is not cranking the engine at all. Anyways, have your mechanic guy check the coil, ignitor, and the main relay.
