2006 Silverado

Thought I would poke my head in here now that I have a silverado again. Just picked it up last night. I will try to get some pictures out in the next week or so. Its a Z71 ext cab, 5.3 liter midnight blue. See you all around

Did you get the flex-fuel or the alum block 5.3? What rear end ratio? Just curious as to your mileage...I have an '06 alum blk 5.3 with a 3.42 rear end.

I have an 06 Z71 Crew Cab with 3.42s. The crew cab only came with the 295hp engine and I get 16.5 city right now. I do some highway driving (about 10 miles each way of a 35 mile commute) but the rest is stop light, stop sign and back roads.

I guess this is the 06 Silverado forum so I'll chime in! I've got an 06 Silverado Ext. Cab Z71 4X4 in Granite Blue that I bought in November. I've got about 1000 miles on it so far and its been great. Mine came with the Light Duty Truck Package that has the H.O. 5.3L with aluminum block and heads producing 310HP. Besides being all aluminum, it's like any other 5.3L, just tweaked a little. Rear end is 3.42. I'm getting about 13MPG in the city right now which is what I mostly drive. Haven't monitored highway MPG yet. Interior is 2LT trim and I had black powder step-ups, wheel locks and bed rail caps installed during dealer prep.

I just got mine over the weekend so I haven't checked the mileage yet. I will let you know with the pictures later. Also I have the alumuinum 5.3 with the 3.42 and the light duty package.

i just bought a 2006 silverado 1500 crew lt3 z71, 2 months ago now have 1200 miles, the ac is making a hissing noise when the temp inside the truck is close to what the setting is on the digital display, seems occur mostly at low speeds or when i am stopped. Any idea what this is and if it is repairable.

Also the drivers side seat seems to lean to the left when i am sitting in it, actually i noticed just after I bought it that the seat back was loose and making a poping noise, the dealer did something to tighten it, but now it is loosening again. Also the coils in the seat pop from time to time any idea what the problem is and what repairs i can request from the dealer?

OK so the system would not let me load my pictures yesterday so I will try again tonight. For those of you wondering what the gas mileage was my first fill up came in at 14.7 MPG. That was mostly city driving.
