Hi, I have a low end misfire. whenever I give it the gas it misses for the first few seconds. Been told it's probably a bad plug wire. I had already changed the plugs, made a difference for a couple of weeks but it came back. Is there a way to check the plug wires? maybe with a meter. could it be one of the coils? the car is a 96 mustang GT 4.6 v8. Thanks Kent:sunglasse

Do you know how many miles you have on those wires? A fast and easy way to check for a leak in the wires is to check them in a dark area with the engine running, you may find a spark escaping from the boot area of the wire. The coil could also be a possibility, but I'd change the wires first. If you still have the problem after changing the wires, you can have your coils checked at autozone

Take your volt meter and set it to the ohm setting, disconnect the plug wire, put the + on one end and the - on the other, check your reading and check the rest. If one is way off from the others you have a bad wire.
