gas and oil shock absorber

Did some model of the civic come with gas shock absorbers?......i had the oil ones and got me some SI shocks with the springs caz one of my springs snaped......the SI spring are marked with color code blue and the old ones that i had the purple code

Dad was the one who said that they seem to be gas caz when i press the shock down it goes up again but my old ones dont.....are these the gas ones or are just my old ones busted?:smokin:
