WIP: ROG Ferrari F430 "Rossa Fiorano"

Decided to pick this kit up off ebay. It seems like a real nice tooled kit.
The front tires are a bit small in my opinion, but they are a carry over from the Modena. Molding is nice, in scale, and if I tweak it like the Revell Enzo I did, I think it will be another winner.... Here it is below bathed in Cobra colors "Rossa Fiorano". With the ever growing palette of colors Leon offers in his paints, you can bet it will be a long time till you see a Rossa Corsa signature ferrari red build from me!!!! It still needs to be polished which will be done in a day or 2 after the 2 part Omni dries......you should see this body in the sun!!:naughty:
oh, I stripped the chrome off the wheels and painted them in tamiya silver leaf from the can.

Fantastic start, for reference below is the real rosso fiorano(despite the model), look like Cobra made goal, it suit perfectly the shape of that beauty. Why not outside US?!! :(

Rosso = Red Corsa = Of Course (JK lol)
Dealers call it 'resale' red.
Love that shade!
and that 612 is just how I plan to build mine.

I'm sorry: that color is exactly the ROSSO FIORANO. May be it seem a bit dark due the fair light.

It's going to be another stunner !
Can't get the paint you mention over here in the UK - this 612 is Rover Nightfire Red - not too far off is it? and may give you an idea of what the model looks like when finished.
Looking forward to developments on this one.

Rubino is a new color for the 612, and that's the color that was on the car for the show circuit. Rosso Foriano is more pink. I just saw these two colors in person at the Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach.

Looks great! The wheels do look smallish. A few of us picked up cheap Maisto F430 kits @ Hobby Lobby for the two sets of rims (only one set of tires :banghead: ) and they look better size-wise. I think Fujimi's 430 rims look small too. I can't remember if I've seen the Revell kit in person or not.
And again, nice work taking a Revell kit to the next level. You've been pretty productive lately :sunglasse

If they do it would be in the ROG box; Revell USA will have it this spring. I'd wait to get that box so it would be as cheap as possible:icon16:

An engine isn't much of a good trade for a bad body IMO.
I fiirst noticed on Oli's build...it's kind of hard to narrow down what is out of proportion because it could be a number of issues. They either arced the side window too high or let the bottom of it sweep too low as it flows to the front of the door. Makes that whole area look odd.
Also the arc of the top of the front fenders looks a bit too far forward. IMO the Fujimi body looks more correct...and on these cars once you get the engine installed you don't see much anyway, not really an issue here IMO. If you decide having a full engine which is only seen a fraction of the time that the whole body is seen is more important....I don't understand that, but hey it's your model and you should build for you.

Well Brian, maybe you should purchase the Revell and I should purchase the Fujimi to compare.... I dont see what you are talking about IMO.

That's actually good, that means you'll be 100% happy with it and I didn't just piss on your project.:)
I am working on the Fujimi 430 now....but I restyled several elements of the body so we'd have trouble making a comparo. I'm sure we'll get the two side by side somehow in the near future...and it may prove my eyesight is just whacky.

Stop getting high like that, brian!
Just don't listen to him, he s got a beard!
I actually think you might have a point. I myself am building the revell one too, it looks very acceptable to me as far as accuracy goes, and it's about half the price and has got an engine. Of course, the rims suck donkey dick.
And I think the body proportions might be more correct on the fuj's too, the revell seems just a bit too bulgey and round around the windows, a feature that the 360 already had (along with a very big and wide A pillar.
Anyways, drugs are bad, eitherway.
And although I m not at all a big fan of metallic colours on ferrari's, this one does look good!

Well hell, I've been throwing 93 octane on the F430 fire on the ACME site just about restyling issues :icon16:
I don't have the Fujimi kit to compare, but compared the pics of this Revell F430 to pics of the 1:1 on the internet.
Let's get picky, eh? Actually I don't see the same problems Veyron does. The roof arch, window shapes seem okay. The upper side vent on top of the rear fender might be slightly off, but the only thing I noticed on the body was the front bumper bevel that should wrap all around the front and continue around the side and visually line up w/a similar detail behind the wheel isn't rendered correctly. The sharper detail lines of the model, such as the sharp crease running along the body and the slight chamfer detail around the front/rear wheel openings all seem soft. Similar comparisons can be made for the Revell Modena vs. the Tamiya which was much crisper.
All this really proves moot as the model looks damn good already, at least for an F430...there's only so much you can do to the stock version...Ferrari's not exactly making their cars beautiful anymore and really weirding them up when it gets to details. Veyron's restyling is great, except for one issue we keep sparring over, and he's not done w/it yet so I'm going to STFU about it until he's done :evillol:
Stop getting high like that, brian!
Anyways, drugs are bad, eitherway.
I think Brian missed going to college, therefore he never took up drinking and drugs  . Maybe there's still time to earn that degree? :uhoh: :naughty: :evillol:

Nice work on the finish, and excellent gloss. How much actual polishing are you doing on the Omni clearcoat? It looks as though it initially lays down so flat that it doesn't require much polishing at all.

NEW UPDATE:
I painted all the details on the body such as the front Vent recesses, Window frames, and gave the panel lines a light wash. Despite the small front wheels, the car will have an awesome stance....

The powerplant is also complete. ROG does a prettty nice job on the details, with a little paint, it dresses up nicely. I added some BMF to represent the heat shield covers... I dont know if its accurate, but the exhaust system reminds me of the ENZO, so I went with it. I also heated up the pipes with some clear orange shot through an airbrush...

This is a wonderful job you have done/are doing here! :bigthumb:
The colour combination overall is excellent and the cleanliness of the interior detailing just makes me shrivel up with envy :)
I would like to ask a question. How did you detail in silver the Ferrari script on the top here:

Ok, now itīs clear! Revell send you to AF to convert all the fanatic Tamiya fans to buying their kits, right?
Some parts of your threads are just sounding like a big advertisement for Revell.
Nevertheless, very nice work. Looking at your Enzo, this will be great looking, too.:smokin:

You think???:icon16:
I just like taking the inexpensive kits and making them look close to the high dollar ones... plus I like the fact that a FULL engine is in place. I know Veyron and I had discussions on the accuracy of the body... what do you guys think of it?? its almost done. I need to add minor details like real metal exhaust tips from tubing, rear tailites etc...and then do a outside photo shoot. The only thing I do not like is the smaller front wheels so I lowered the car all around to make the tire "fill" the front wheel well area. Other than that, this is a fine kit, it fits together very well and overall fit and finish is spot on. The decal sheet is printed by Cartograph and even includes black and white caliper logos as well as the red Pirelli lettering for the tires. Cobra colors paint does not hurt either. Rosso Fiorano Color makes this car look like a wolf in sheeps clothing....
thanks for looking everyone...

Looks awesome! I belive the accuracy of the body looks okay and I cant point at anything wich makes it loose accuracy. The only thing i dont like is the revell tyres and wheels. Keep it upp.
