lights on instrument cluster?

On a 92 chev corsica 3.1. Just wondering, since the car was given to me and had no owner's manual, and the repair books I have do not show what I'm looking for, if anyone could tell me what the red 'P' and right beside it the red '!' mean?
They came on when the battery died and had to get a boost. I assume the P means parking brake, but the brake is not on, the brake fluid level is fine as well. Hubby had a stereo installed and I'm wondering if they may have knocked something loose or possibly not grounded something coreectly, he swears that's not it, but I beg to differ, they had to go up inside there to play around with audio wires....anyways if anyone has advice that would be great! TIA
