i just bought a 96 mustang GT. i know quite a bit about these cars, but ill be honest, ive never looked into a turbo kit. what is a parts list of things i would need for a single turbo kit. if anybody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. i am wanting to put together my own kit because it will be cheaper and i can put together the parts i want and know are strong. so if you guys could give me a list, it would help me out alot.

Well to build your own turbo kit I hope you know that you will have to custom plumb piping. That will require a welder and some J-bens or something. Other than the pipe you will need the turbo of course and the bov and boost controler if you wish to run one. You will have to make or buy shorty headers or use the stock ones if you want. But you will have to flip them around backwards. You also need a wastegate, probably an intercooler, and the fuel injected stuff to support the added power. That is just a ver small list of the major parts you will have to have. If you dont have experiance with turbos and custom modifications then I would suggest buying a kit.

im very experienced with turbos, but with 4 cylinders....i didnt know if there was any type of special Mass air flow sensor needed or whatever. i do have a nice welder and i have good access to piping. but i need to know about special parts such as the MAF or a chip...you know, the techincal part of it.

keep in mind that you're probably gonna need help with tuning, especially part-throttle stuff. You're adding boost to a vehicle with no provision in the computer to compensate for it... The right MAF helps (blow-thru I agree) but it's still fooling the computer a lot and a custom tune is needed.
