Re-Painting My Body - My CAR'S Body

My 97 GPGT is painted white, as are the stock alloy rims. I'd love to remove the paint from the rims, and re-paint the car black. Has anyone here ever had this done - can you give me a ballpark on cost, or difficulty? Also, if the paint was removed from the rims, what are they like underneath - could I get them to shine like regular unpainted alloys?

I have a white one too.....hit a pothole and thrashed 2 wheels....so had to replace them with others. I would not try and paint them.....I think they where powder coated if my memory serves me right......just get some new wheels....(or trade me for my aftermarkets...cause I would love to have the stock wheel agian)lol

OK so forget the wheels, I'll prolly trade them with someone - what about the body frame?

I'm having my wheels stripped and painted this spring. They are painted with a silver paint currently, I will be stripping the rims myself using a store bought paint stripper, I'm not going to tackle the paint job myself, I am having a body shop do that. If you want to polish yours it would require a lot of elbow grease and time, its probably a very dull and maybe even textured finish under that paint. Thats why I'm repainting mine.
As for the body, when you look at a color change your looking at a good chunk of cash because they have to paint everywhere. I was quoted $2000 just to repaint my 95 GTP in the same red. If I'm going to fork over that kind of cash I'm going to go all out and paint it a custom color, so it will have to wait a year or so.

Hmm, was afraid of that. Guess I'll get used to white :(
