I just put a 95 lt1 into a 97 camaro. Had the pcm reprogrammed for it by pcm for less, (97 camaro to 95 lt1), installed new plugs, but the car runs like crap.

The vacuum is low on idle, but does pick up on throttle increase. Fuel pressure is at 43 psi. The manifolds are glowing which I know is a sign of excessive fuel, but I swapped the first intake for another lt1 intake I had off of another engine which had different injectors, and still the same thing. The car really struggles at light moderate throttle, but once it's going, say 2K rpm, if you punch it, it will run like a scalded dog. It would be easy to say the opti, but I'm tired of guessing. The car will not even spin a tire on dead stop take off, will lug itself up to around 2K rpm, then scream from there on up. Any and all ideas of what the problem could be, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Buck

I'd be thinking about the PCM, you had a OBD II reprogammed to owrk with a OBD I controlled motor? Shouldn't matter all too much, but I'm wondering about air metering?

No codes?

Anything else out of the ordinary?

Do you have the computer that was origionally on that engine? That should really be the first thing to try. Sounds like the problem lies within computer controlled systems like EGR and timing.

Thanks for the help guys. The engine I bought without the original pcm as I thought I would have to get the 97 pcm reprogrammed to work with the 95 engine.

I had a friend go out and try to run the codes with a actron CP9145 scanner he had just gotten. Keeping in mind he is a novice at such things, he cleared the old codes, started the engine and ran it to operating temp, and came up with the following codes: 11, 25, 26, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48, 52, 63, 67, 68, 80, 84, & 86.

No, nothing else that I've noticed out of the ordinary. It just doesn't have any low end power, but runs strong from mid to upper range, the manifolds are getting very hot (glowing), sitting at idle the vacuum reads about 10", but on throttle increase it gets up to about 20", while fuel pressure holds at approximately 43 psi.

Any and all help would/will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again guys.

i would have to say that PCM is not compatable. I'd go down to the boneyard and pull a OBD I hybrid 94-96 LT1 PCM.

I need some help with my 1992 Camaro v8 305. When I start the car, the whole car will shake! When I push down on the gas, the car will run fine above 2k rpm's. But when I let off, the car will shake and shut off. I think it has something to do with a leak in a vacuum hose? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Welcome to the forum. :icon16:
I have some ideas about your problem, but you need to start a new thread because your camaro is a completely different car with different problems from buck6680's camaro(he started this thread).
Just go to Problem Diagnosis page: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1465
and click the New Thread button. Then copy and paist your post from this thread, add anything else you can think of, and anyone on the forum who thinks they can help will respond.
