PT turbo vs 3000gt

So I'm on my way over to a buddies house to help him install a deck in his Jeep and I see a car up ahead with green neon underneath it. I figure I'll check it out and see what it is. I get close enough to see its a Pt cruiser turbo with purple flames on the side, silver tail lights, and a loud system in it. I get right next to him and he he hits the gas for a few seconds and lets me catch up to him agian. Once I'm even with him he punches it agian and I do likewise. (were each going about 63 mph) This was a great place for me to start because I was already near the top of my powerband. It looked even until about 78 I started to pull my back bumper to his front. Come 100 i'm about little over a cars length ahead. We ended shutting down at 110 due to traffic ahead and I glance back and he's about 1.5-2 car lengths back. He catches back up to me then and rolls down his window. He looks at me and says "damn, NICE race"! It was quite a bit of fun. I figured a turbo PT could hang on better than he did. By this time I had missed my turn to go to my buddies so I head back in the other direction. It was kind of dumb car to race but it was the turbo so I figured why not. No regrets here.

I believe there was a low pressure turbo and SRT-4 powered PT Cruiser. I'm sure your car would beat the low pressure one. Nice kill.
I still don't understand Dodge, as i'm sure they must have alot of gm executives in it, as they killed off the SRT-4 for that P.O.S. Caliber.

Good kill, glad to hear that he wasn't a dumbass about losing.
I've thought about picking up one of those PT Turbos a few times, they can be found sooooo cheap for how new and how little miles they have and they'd make good sleepers once you shave the badges.

I'm confused on this. So there was a PT Cruiser with the same engine specs as a SRT-4. The SRT-4 would kill me though right? Or was there a high and low pressure turbo available in the SRT-4 and Cruiser?

I thought the Neon SRT-4 was going to be replaced by a SRT-4 Caliber with a 250 hp turbo and AWD. And the Caliber is based on the Lancer, so the next SRT-4 is going be a poor man’s EVO.

Lol not really, the new caliber is just a piss of shit and the guy who came up with that should be shot!:shakehead I wouldn't even use caliber and evo in the same sentence.( damn't I just did:banghead: )
I'm thinking Dodge wanted to replace the Neon and by replacing the Neon they had to replace the srt too because a majority of the parts for the srt-4comes from the neon production line. It would be too expensive to just makes parts solely for the srt. Just my thoughts on the subject...

I was looking at those PT Cruiser GTs or Turbo (a comment was made on a mopar site as to why they didn't just call them GT Cruisers instead of PT Cruiser GT). The intake manifold looks different and I don't think they have a FMIC. Plus the weight as somebody mentioned makes it a pig compared to an SRT-4. Oh yeah, no boost gauge either. All the new PT Cruiser Convertibles seem to be equipped with the turbo. I still think they look too fugly even if priced decent...

guys ever heard of something called aerodynamics? too many underestimate the power of aero dynamics. wich especially in the pt cruiser, plays a big part

^^^ True, which reminds me, have you guys seen that Jeep SRT-8? That thing is fast (0-60 in under 5 sec) and that thing has terrible aerodynamics. Although on your way to 60 your probably not experiencing a whole lot of wind resistance, but still, damn.

425 hp + AWD = 0-60 in under 5. It’s got power and traction it doesn’t need aerodynamics.

420 hp but it makes little difference. The 1/4 times are fast as hell too. listed low 13's, it may get a little slower around 130-140 but who cares

there isnt "low and high pressure" versions of the PT Cruiser turbo. Its the same turbo in both and same boost. Its all in the ECU. Its called a "turbo-lite" model. The lower hp version (called turbo-lite) had something like 180hp. The high output model (some had a high output badge on it) had the numbers mentioned above. Put a Stage 1 computer on both the lite and high output models and the result will be the same power level. It brings them both up to equal levels. Its the same engine and turbo as the SRT4. The trans are different though...even the manual. Aerodynamics and weight are the two downfalls. Best dyno we got with ours (auto tranny and a few bolt-ons) was 215whp/246wtq, however I know AGP has a PT that is putting out a tad over 400hp!

It looks like I'm getting to old. SO does that mean no more reproduction parts for the SRT4?

They killed the Neon for that?! That thing is ugly IMO. I mean sure, the thing has 300 HP and AWD. But exterior looks don't impress em at all. If I'm going to own a vehicle with such a great powerplant, I want it to look somewhat decently or bareable to my eyes. This thing, just doesn't...I'm so disappointed in Dodge...

It doesn’t have AWD. When I said “I was wrong about the HP it's going to be 300 not 250 and about it having AWD,”. I thought it was going to have AWD, but it turns out I was wrong it doesn’t have AWD. It’s FWD with an LSD just like the Neon SRT-4.

They don’t, like the SRT-4 Neon this isn’t an enthusiast’s car, this is a enthusiast version of a practical economy car.
The right now only affordable enthusiast’s car is the Mustang everything else under $30,000 is based on a family car or slow. That will change when the GXP Solstice comes out.
