2000 Jimmy Keyless Entry Problem

Keyless entry has been working sporadically for awhile; sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Even when it works, the range is very short. Dealer's service department looked at it and reprogrammed the remotes but that didn't help. They indicated it was probably a problem with the receiver. I ordered a new receiver and 2 new remotes from a seller on Ebay. They are the same exact parts as existing on the vehicle but they do not work any better than the ones I had. Does anybody else have an idea what may be the problem? Could it be the body control module and if it may be, where is this module located in the vehicle? Thanks for any help you may offer!

Its on the dash I think ... on the passenger side ... you can see it from looking from outside through the windsheild .... make sure you don't have anything covering it .
As far as the distance for it to work I noticed mine ( a 2000 also ) was getting shorter as time went by too , but just put it off to a low batteries ( if those things take batteries )

I have noticed mine does the same thing, it works somewhat better in secluded areas which leads me to believe it is due in most part to all the massive amounts of radio waves we have slamming the air waves, im sure with millions of electronics with wireless functions and remote signals that we might just be suffering signal loss due to noise. Of course it could be that the contact points need to be cleaned in order to give a better connection and send a stronger signal...

My range is also bad, the keyless works about 95% of the time when I'm within 4feet of the truck, 10% of the time when I'm farther than 4feet. Has anyone ever enhanced the antenna on the receiver? Since this is dealing with RF I would assume you can just better the antenna to get -somewhat- better range.
PS about "low batteries" I changed my batts out (look on the keyfob, there's a slot\groove in the top of it, pry that open with a butter knife\screwdriver\whatever and inside is a watch battery with a number on it, take that to circuit city or wherever and they'll sell you a new battery for about 2$) and the batt change did not work. I cleaned the contacts under the button plate and that as well didn't help.
