Change the fluid and the filter.. Make sure to leave about one quart room for a bottle of LUCAS Trans treatment.. Can be bought at any NAPA.. This should work.. good Luck

If the fluid has been brown for a while and is finally starting to give you real trouble, a simple change of the fluid and filter, even with the additive, probably isnt going to fix it. It sounds like the tranny is slipping in the higher gears and is working its way down. Hopefully the additive will help you get by for a while, but you're probably going to have to get it rebuilt soon. Clutches and what not inside are worn from the sound of it.

if your fluid was tha bad and you changed it, i would think about getting a aftermarket tranny cooler just to be safe.

I knew that Lucas stuff would fix the problem.. I work for NAPA auto parts and all of my customers swear by it.. I use it in my firebird... I'm happy that everything worked out for your car... Lucas makes alot of additives for autos and even heavy duty trucks and trailers.. Happy motoring..
