axle ratios

hi iv got a 01 z71 with a 5.3 in it dont know what rear axle ratio i have how do i find this out?! tried every book i can find.

Look on the RPO sticker on your glove box door for these codes.
GT4 Rear axle, 3.73 ratio
GT5 Rear axle, 4.10 ratio
GU6 Rear axle, 3.42 ratio

You do realize that you'll need to swap to 4.10's in the front diff as well, right? As for where you'd look for gear sets, you can get them about anywhere that specializes in truck parts. Probably spend about 500 a set at the dealer plus labor. If a shop sells you the parts and does the labor for you, the bill will be a stiff one. You cannot recallibrate your speedo through the computer either, like you can on the newer trucks. Expect a bill for that as well.
