until what light goes out?

Check out the FAQ, and try doing the part where you pull the codes from teh ECU yourself. I bet you will find something there.

i think he means when you use the sport shift option...

when selected a light turns on in the dash to display that sport is enabled ..

problems occur when it is enabled

new to forums

i have a question, what can be the problem when my car will not take off in drive. i have to step on the gas and it will move but the engine is straining. once i get it going it is fine but its just the first gear that will not work.
is their a quick fix or should i get a new tranny?

have you tried manually shifting into 1st gear and see if that changes anything ?

actualy that is the only way the engine does not strain. i have to but it in 1st or 2nd to get enough speed then i shift up.

engine light comes on after about 20 min of driving.

do you have an autozone close by ?

or do you know how to check the engine code ?

that may give some good info too..

i had a mechanic check and pull the codes for it but the only thing that came up was the speed censor. i can tell that the censor is bad because i will be driving and the speedometer will not read it stays at 0 mph

and what is stopping you from pulling the speed sensor and replacing it ?

well i dont know exactly what the censor looks like and where i can buy it and not cost me a arm and a leg. i have heard they are expensive for a censor. do you by any chance know where i can get my hands on one?

yes new they do cost approx 120.00 but im sure you can pullone from the auto pick and pull yard...

invest in a service manual .. $15.00

the part is not ver big at all... small enough to fit in your pocket (if you know what i mean)

Check the FAQ, there is a HUGE section devoted to the speed sensor replacement. Also a section to pull your own codes. Autozone probably wont be able to do it, because as far as I know they only have an OBDII scanner, so only 96+.

yeah is it not a little cheap loking key that fits into two slots in the reader..

they give them away for free..

is it hard to replace a tranny on these cars? the reason i ask is because i found a pick and pull that sells the tranny for about $25.00 and has a 31 day return policy. i was wondering if it is worth the risk or not. i took the car in this morning and the mechanic said he recomends the rebuild. he is going to keep the car over night to test drive and pull the codes then give me the results. he said he would try to keep the cost down but he thinks it will be somewhere between 1300.00 and 1500.00. what do yall recomend?

Read the FAQ. replace the speed sensor. That will cost $50 and probably fix your problem. If not, then you can start worrying about rebuilds. Of course the mechanic will say it needs a rebuild. He makes more money that way...

do you think the speed censor will fix the problem with the shifting of the tranny?

xtreme barton

look at it this way ..

if he does a rebuild than he will replace the sensor ... if you get a tranny you will need a sensor..

just go get the sensor and fix that problem and tell us what else is on the trouble codes..

tranny swap will take a while to complete... if your good at what you do look in the 4-6 hour ball park...

i agree its to early to call just to let your mechanic have it ..
