grand prix bogs down.

i was driving my moms grand prix the other day and i noticed when you give it alot of gas in 2nd gear, it will bog down and take awhile to finally catch up to itself. what do you think the problem is?

What year is the car? How many miles? Does it do it when it's cold and/or hot? Problems only in 2nd gear?

the car is either a 98 or a 99 grand prix GT. i forgot what she said. it has about 81000 miles on it and it bogs down when its hot or cold. this problem only occurs in 2nd gear.
