ive just noticed that the right front speaker (in the door) is not working on my escort. i didnt realize before, as ive been in the driver's seat. my last escort also had a dead speaker in the right passenger door.
is there a quick fix for this? is there a certain wire which gets rubbed through consistently? anyone know anything that would help me get the system balanced again without spending two days tearing apart body panels?
thanks,
anthony

that may be the problem. sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. the rear speakers buzz when i playanything with a bit of bass so i was thinking of replacing them anyway.
its a 97 with no power windows. i can get to the speakers pretty easily.
what does one buy to replace them with, with a very strong bias towards economy? are they all the same bolt pattern?
thanks,
anthony

Well if you look at http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8v3YQwAhqJ7/ And if you order speakers they come with speaker wiring and a harness so it wires up too your factor wiring and a harness so you can bolt it right up. Their prices are a bit high on some stuff. But i bought alot of my stuff from https://www.sonicelectronix.com .. im taking my 12 inch subs back and getting 2 10 inch kickers soon =)

I have a 95 & a 96 scort. Both of these had rotted speaker cones when I got them. They would still work, but any major volume and they sounded like crap. I replaced then with some Pioneer speakers that sound just fine. I drilled new mounting holes in the door where needed and changed the connector on the speakers. Just cut off the factory connector and crimped on some female disconnects that fit the speaker terminals. It took about 30 min to do both panels in the front. This is not a major deal here. Biggest trick is to use a rag to pop out the U shaped clip that holds on the window handle.
