trouble with 96' tracker 4wd

My 1996 tracker has been giving me 4wd problems. It doesnt seem like the front wheel drive is working. The rods that come form the front differential are spinning. I am wondering if it has something to do with the manuel locking hubs. I got stuck in the mud and the front wheels were NOT spinning at all but the rods were moving. Any advice would be appreciated

Take the front hubs apart and greese them. make sure the spring is attached or when you turn the knob it will not pull the locking thing into place.
