I have a question regarding the specifications of the 2500hd and 3500 diesel chevy trucks. What is the payload capacity of both these vehicles. They seem to be about the same in the reading (is this true). Do you have to have the 3500 as 4 rear wheels (dually) inorder to increase its payload weight to its maximum(if so then what is the payload weight after adding the 2 extra wheels). Thanks:wink: :grinyes: :sunglasse

I can't answer all of your specific questions with actual ratings, but in the old days my 2500HD with a gas motor would have been considered a one ton at 9,200 GVWR. I know the Duramax version has a higher GVWR. Answer to your Dually question, you now CAN get a 3500 in a single rear wheel version, but since dual rear wheels increase the overall GVWR, the heaviest rated pickup would be the 3500 Duramax with the dual rear wheel option.
