New Issues...

Ok... here is a detailed synopsis of my car's symptoms.
The car has approx 125k on it. It is a 94 v6 (3.4). recent tune up with new plugs, air filter, oil change, also new cat converter was put on a week ago.

While cruising at highway speeds, I would say 70 the car starts to stutter/hesitate. To describe the feeling i would compare it to: as if you were driving and there were small patches of glue in the roadway slowing you down. It appears that the RPMs arent affected so much. more forward progression than anything else. Its kinda annoying also. It doesnt happen to much on acceleration; mostly on constant cruise. I had time to notice it because I had to drive from Auburn to Atlanta. It happened the whole way. Any ideas of what it could be? It showed signs of happening on my other Camaro, so I'm guessing it must be common on the 3.4 at that age. Thanks for the time and any help.

Does the car itself hesitate or does it like shake?

it feels like a shudder. like some one dropped some ice on the car's back.
or to describe it another way,
it feels as if you were driving and there were small patches of glue in the roadway every 100 feet or so

ya, my 95 z28 did something sillilar and the battery went out, then a wek later it did it again and the fule pump went out, that is when i got rid of it. Don't know if that what your is or not, check fuel preshure. Could be something with the tranny also.

how do u check fuel pressure? with regular tools that a college kid might have

on the fuel line under the hood there should be a thing where you can screw a fuel psi gauge on. I think the line is by the injectors, i don't know much about the 3.4

ok well i hope that is it. and that is not expensive. Any other ideas any one? I want to try out all the things that could be wrong with it

oh sorry to tell you but the fuel pump is very expensive, because the tank is hrd to get to and to get down, that is why i sold mine, they told me $800 to put a new pump in. I was going to do it my self, but i did not feel like messing with the car

but like i said, i don't know if that is what wrong with yours, and i don't know if the 3.4's cost that much. But when u do check it, and if it is low. It could also be a fuel filter, or a fuel preshure regeulator. Now that i think about it, you might want to take a look at your timing chain also. It could be loose.

I have something similar happening to my 92. An abrupt shuddering at times.
At higher speed it is more noticeable (mine when accelerating) and at lower speeds you can feel a bumping when it up or down shifts.

Turns out that it is the torque convertor lock up causing most of it and the Transmission expert also said the rear sprag is worn. I am going to have the transmission reworked and the torque converter replaced pretty soon.

As a matter of fact, it does rummm rummm. but it doesnt have a significant effect on RPMs

Before you go diving into the tank, make sure that is your issue, do as suggested put the pressure gauge on, secure it to the windsheild in clear view and take it for a run, get it up to the speed where the problem occurs and look for a fluctuation (drop in this case). Since it occurs at 70 mph, i would suggest having a companion watch the gauge :)

This could be a number of things, but if the car can dirve just fine otherwise, I wouldn't thnk pump just yet. A pump will really reveil a problem at lower gears. I'd be looking at o2 input, maybe the pressure regulator, fuel filter/leaky or clogged injector(s) and EGR.
