scratches on windsheild

what should i use on my windsheild to remove scratches that the wipers left, the car was like that when i bought it so i put new wipers on right away so it wouldnt get worse.

Take it to a shop that specializes in windshields to have it checked to see if it can be fixed. If not you will probably need to have it replaced. There really isn't anything that can safely remove scratches from glass that is available to the general public. Trying something that isn't made for glass can do more damage than good.

I agree with Lynn. Your best bet is just to have the windshield replaced. I get a lot of glass pitting due to the dust storms and damage from road debris. I don't know the current cost but I had the windshield replaced by a local independent auto glass shop and it ran around $170.00 plus tax including installation.

It is not worth the hassle.

really i am not kidding i bought a roll overed pick up truck about ten years ago and it had scratches on the drivers side window and i rubbed toothpaste on it and walaaa scratches were gone...:grinno: :grinno:

Thats why I asked you what brand of toothpaste. I've tried Colgate on my GTP and Regal windshields. It didn't work.

I just tried some on an Alero windshield and the scratches are still visible. Even tried some on the passenger and driver's windows. Aleros and Grand Ams are notorius for side window scratches due to a design defect. Didn't work either.

yeah i geuss i could try the toothpaste trick, worth a try, $170 doesnt seem all that bad i geuss, thought it would have been way more, thanks again.

i tried google- searched winshield scratch repair- there were several things that came up- one product was made by meguiars- the car wax people- and it sounded pretty good. check it out, might save you some money although it did sound time consuming.
