For the life of me I can not find where the PCV valve is. My Haynes book shows it on the top right of the engine with a hose going to the vacuum manifold however there is nothing at the end of that hose! I pull the hose out of the rubber grommet and nothing is there. I am very puzzled. Any pointers?
Thanks,
Dave

Welcome to AF!
Check on the underside of the plenum on the back side of the engine next to the firewall. With GM anything is possible!

Did you find the PCV valve, I have the same problem, no check valve inside the hose, just bare hose going into the engine....and the other end going to the air intake

alright, another spot it could be. if you have the 3100 cover or 3800 cover look on the left hand side were that cover bolt onto, it says PCV or PCV VALVE, undeath were the cover bolts to, there is going to be a black plate. (if not, look on the left hand side of the fuel injectors, basically in the center, almost inbetween the alternator and power steering pump) should be 3 bolts, all 10mm i believe. remove them and you will see a spring, you can remove that with a pair of needle nose pliers. then you will see the pcv valve. there should be a rubber gasket under the pcv valve that you will need to transfer over to the new pcv valve.
Good luck,
Bill
