I don't know if anyone else has or had this problem, but my lift gate is very hard to shut. It takes about 5 good SLAMS to get it to actually close. I have no idea what the problem is. Thanks for any advice and replies to this thread.

They have a door pin, and bushing setup simular to our doors. These probably need replacing.
Plus there is a good chance that oiling the mechanism will help.
Third, if you've got a swing arm rear tire mount they tend to flex the lower cab corner in. Which could be causing your problem.

I've braced mine which really helps.

If you've got this try taking your tire off. Then see if it'll close.

Thank you for the reply. My spare tire is mounted inside (I enjoy the full view). I will oil it and see if that helps. I forgot to mention that most times if you use the button to open the lift gate, you have to hold the shift lever further into park to operate it. Even opening it, it takes about 5 button presses to open it. Like you said, oiling it should help. Thanks again! :bigthumb: I'll post back how it went.

I oiled the mechanism really good. I had never looked at it but it was dry and covered in dirt (a lot of dirt back roads during the summer). It shuts on the first try now and opens on the first push!!! Now I need to replace the lift supports... too many times it has fallen on the head. :banghead: Thanks for the help. Glad it was an easy fix!
