2001 intrigue no start

One day while coasting to a stop light the car just cut out and wouldnt start back up. it will just crank and crank, and very rarely it might start up and run fine, but when put in drive it stalls out again, any suggestions?

Did the check engine light ever come on?

while driving it, no. but when the power was on the light would stay on but dissapear once the car was started

It's probably your crankshaft position sensor. You'll need to replace it.
