alright - this problem just started happening a few weeks ago.
i would try and start the car and usually within a second it would start up, no problem, just like it normally should. however, what i have noticed is that if you don't get the car fully started on the first try you have to hold down the gas pedal to get it to start on any following tries.
so fair enough i figured it wasn't a big problem and i continued to drive the car without any problems until the other day while i was driving down the road at about 70km/h and the car just stalled - i coasted to the side of the road and tried to start it again - no start, the car just cranks over and over without any firing. i tried holding down the gas pedal and still, cranks over but no firing.
btw, when i turn the key i can hear my fuel pump start up and i have checked my spark (just replaced all 6) which is working good.
what could possibly be wrong? i am almost 100% sure it is related to me originally having to hold down the gas pedal in the car but what does that indicate the problem could be?

Spray carb cleaner into the intake if it starts, fuel problem, check fuel pressure, if good check for injector pulse with a noid lite, plugs into injector connector if it flashes as you crank, the computer is pulsing the injectors, basic diagnostic steps here.

there is no carb on the car, it is fuel injected.
wud those same basic diag. steps work for a fuel injected vehicle?
btw, i thought i might have a dirty fuel filter or dirty fuel injectors... i'm not altogether sure :(

It was meant for a fuel injected vehicle - IIRC the last carbeurated LeSabres were made in '87. At least I believe it is, he mentions injectors. I only know for the most part how it works, not how to work on it (when it comes to engine and engine controls).
Also, the gas pedal shouldn't do anything for you on startup, since it is fuel injected...certainly interesting :)

hm.... i've been reading around and at this point i am thinking crankshaft sensor, what do you think of that?

Again, does it have spark and injector pulse, there are no diagnostics involved in looking at the most common part replaced on these forums ,basic diagnostics should be done here. See post #2, same stuff again.
