Sorry, guys haven't been around much....well, actually I have, but for some odd reason I wasn't able to post......so I hope this works.....Anyways, I was looking into a couple body lifts, moreover to the Skyjacker 3" lift, and was wondering if there are any disadvantages to a body lift over the suspension lift.....I don't want to spend the dough on the suspension lift, and found the skyjacker kit, with all accessories, including the bumper relocation bracket for only about $250.00......which is quite a deal....so what do you guys think....???? Thanks, ahead of time......
One more thing, how do you post pics?

The two biggest disadvantages are you gain no ground clearance whatsoever, and it really just doesn't look good. The body creaks more. Look carefully at trucks that just have body lifts, they look odd. Go with the suspension lift. You may be paying more, but you get what you pay for.

Shoot, the only reason that I wanted a lift was so that I could get ground clearance when I go mudding.....well, actually there is two reasons , the other being I think the rig looks nicer when it is a bit higher..... Does anyone have any pictures of a silvy with a body lift? And what would be a good suspension lift that isn't that expensive....?

Damnit, when I started this post I thought you drove an 88 - 98, they have 3 inch lift kits, suspension, for 500 bucks that are a hell of a deal. But for the newer style's they don't so I can't do that. I'll try to look around...

The only way to gain any clearance is with a good suspension and taller tires. Lots of people around here have body lifts and they look like crap to me. Everything hangs lower (ex. frame, exhaust pipes, nerf bars) and looks retarded to me. Check out a Fabtech or Superlift F.I.T 6" suspension lift for your ride. They seem to be the most popular and all are about the same in cost.
If you want a cheap lift, go with some Ford torsion bar keys for front and 2" add-a-leaf or lift blocks for the rear. That should let you be able to fit 305/70's without any rubbing, maybe even 315's which is a 35" tire.

Thanks guys for the replies.....looks like the only way is to get a suspension lift....I will try to look around for something that isn't too expensive...but we will see. My maximum height that I want to lift is 4 inches, the only reason for that is so that I can still park my baby in the underground garage, if I lift it any higher I won't be able to park it down there. (the closest parking outside for me is about 2 kilometres away, stupid canadian permit rules)..... Anyways, I will check it around and maybe my only option would be to crank the truck and do the add a leafs.... at least I will be 2 " higher, which would make me less embarrased when a ford pulls up beside me.....I wish chevy made there trucks that high........sorry, for rambling on......and for the record.....I have a 2001 Chevy 'Black Beauty' Silvy, 5.3 Ext

When I bought My 2000 Z71 I looked at getting lifts.. I knew the Body lifts were crap..and like what jeverett states.. they do look retarded.. you can always tell a body kit.. Anyways what I was going to say was the Superlift is the best way to go. they have a 2-3.5" inch system and 6" system and for a while, they were the only one that would make sure you did not have the vibration like other lifts would give you.

Too bad about your parking situation, cause a four inch suspention lift cost about the same as a six inch.

Hey, I know this is an old post but, I did a search consearning "body lifts". I have heard of the "add a leafs"and I already have the torsion keys. How much lift do you think I can get with that setup? I'm not at all sold on the body lifts. Thanks. Joe
