I have a 1999 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4 eng. Over the last couple months, i have notcied play in the steering colume. After jacking the car up and insp. the front end, I noticed the left front driver side wheel has play in the front wheel. The play is coming from inside the cv boot. Does anyone know in the whole front axle will need to be changed or will the assy under the cv boot need changed? The cv boot is not cracked or damaged, but the assy inside the cv boot must be worn.

Since owning the car new, I have had 16 inch factor PT Cruiser rims with 205/55/16 tires, is it possible having over size rims and tires could have damage this?
When I purchused the car, it had 14 inch rims.

Thank You

Columbus Ohio.

I don't think the problem is the CV joint. The wobble could be a wheel bearing problem. The CV joint is supposed to flex and bend, that is it's job in life. It doesn't support anything or hold anything in place. The 16" rims shouldn't cause any problems as long as the tire size is correct. Are you sure your wheel isn't just loose. Also are the wheels OEM PT Cruiser or are they after market wheels that you got from a PT Cruiser?
