Lifting a 91 22RE
91 4x4 yot

I have a 91 toyota regular cab and my buddy has a 86. He just rolled his rig and is parting it out. He offered me his lift (8in total: I think 4susp, 3body, and shackles...?) for 400 bucks. I was curious if the lift for the IFS is the same on the 86's and 91's. I don't see why they wouldn't swap over fine but any comments about the lifts in general would be appreciated too.

Yeah, the 2nd and 3rd gen trucks have the same IFS. The 4th gen (Tacos) are different.

Try checking at marlincrawler.com
there's a lot of real good info on toyotas they will be able to tell you for sure
although they deal with hard core rock crawling and stuff
but good people none the less

$400 sounds pretty steep to me. I think you can get a brand new 4" suspension lift for around $700-$800 with new shocks. I realize that's double, but at least you have the peace of mind that they aren't parts that were in an accident that totaled the truck that they were on. They may be tweeked even though you can't visually see any defects. That COULD lead to more problems down the road that could make you think that you shouldn't even have messed with it. Just a thought.
Body kits are generally about $100 or less.
I bet your buddy even wants you to remove the lift from his totaled truck too, eh? :)
