My father-in-law gave me a 1987 RX-7 as a gift. The car is completely taken apart, but hey... it was free. Anyway I've been really getting into the car scene I guess and I want to build a tuner and thought this would be a perfect begginer's project. I'm wanting to replace as much of the car with high performance parts as possible with my budget... I just need someone to help me by telling me where to get started... If anyone knows any websites or books I could look at that would be awesome... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Easiest place to start: Google RX7 Mods, or Rx7 forums, or RX7 clubs, and just look for people to talk to about it. Or try the Mazda forum on this site. Rotaries are great engines, very simple but you can squeeze a lot of power from em.

Just be careful about why the car was disassembled in the first place.............Rust.............blown engine/ trans?

There obviously is the opportunity to rebuild/upgrade the components before reassembly, but it's really frustrating to install a component only to find out it's bad..........alomst as frustrating as shelling out the bucks for new parts when the old ones are just fine.

The only thing I was told is bad on the car is the clutch. Do any of you know any brands that work good with Mazdas? Like Mugen is for Honda?
