I am considering purchasing a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta from a friend. It has a 1.6 liter TDI engine and 217,000 miles. The mileage is mainly from highway driving. I am wondering how many more miles this engine can handle, and would it be a wise purchase for the price of $3000. I have looked up the kelly blue book value and it is booked at 3000. Your advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

engines can go 450k miles or so. would deff check if all the maintence has been done (timing belt, egr cleaning, shocks) this is alot of miles for a turbo also, prob doesnt have much life in it unless its highway. also clutch if manual. if its an auto stay away
