this is sort of a long story, but i really need some help!! About a month ago my car started to overheat. It would go all the way into the red, and then cool down about 2 seconds later. I had the thermostat changed, and my radiator was flushed. when they lushed the radiator the fluid inside was orange. We then filled it with fresh anti freeze, and called it a day. well now the antifreeze is orange again, there is a lot of orangy brown chunky stuff in there and now antifreeze is spraying out by my motor, I tried sealing the leak with quick steal but it is still leaking a bit, someone PLEASE HELP. It really seems like this is a problem for a lot of lumina drivers. thankyou Jess

if its an intake leak then bite the bullet and have it fixed. the brown chunky stuff is rust and youre probably never going to get that to stop. all you can do is flush it and flush it often. the rust may have clogged up your radiator or something else.

I don't mean to be funny but... are you aware that GM uses and recommends an anti-freeze that is orange in color? I personally do not use this stuff because I have been told by a GM mechanic that this stuff contributes to gasket failure.

any coolant will eat gaskets if you dont flush it regularly. the biggest problems with dexcool are #1 color mixing and #2 air. if air is mixed with the dexcool for long enough it makes it scale up and get crusty and nasty. if its mixed with green coolant you might as well be making funky pudding.

I have already flushed the entire system, but there is still reddish orange chunk in there!! this car has given me nothing but headaches since I had the timing belt replaced. II don't know what I am going to do, I was hoping the prblem would just correct itself!:p But no luck yet!! Thank you for your help!
