I may buy a new exhaust for my escort this summer, but I don't know what to get. I saw that I can get the Pacesetter Monza exhaust and headers for my 1.9L Escort. However, what happens to the catallitic converter? I think I read somewhere that is has to be relocated. Where would I relocate it to and would I have to buy a new one?
Has anyone put and Monza Exhaust and headers on their escort?
Has anyone used any other brands of exhaust systems on their escort?
How do these exhaust systems sound? I want something deep but nothing too loud, rice-like, or fart-can-like.
Please let me know of some of your set-ups, pricing, and what the gains were.
Thank you for you any help or information you suppy to me.

I have the headers and there worth about 10hp. They add about 14 pounds of torque. I build my own exaust out of a kit you can buy, from Stainless Works.
Yes you do have to relocate the cat. Its not that hard to do. Get a good one like a magnaflow slip on the get a clamp. You also have to cut the pipe thats there to get it to fit but thats not hard. Its best to move the cat any way because it will help lower your under hood temp. If you have am ODB 1 year your in lick because you can mount a cat any where and not have a problem. If your ODB 2 you will have to keep it close to near under hood cause you have to attach the sensor.
A friend of mine bought the exaust system. It sounds good, on his car. The sound of the exaust depends alot on the other mods done in the car.

10hp and 14lbs ft? Wow, did you dyno test it, or are you guessing?
What is an OBD 1 and ODB 2?
The only other thing I have on my scort is an intake filter. What mods does your friend's scort have?
How hard is it to install the exhaust/headers? Would I be able to do it if I jacked up the car and put it on stands or would the car be too low to complete the install? Should I have it professionally installed? (any idea of how much that would cost?)
Thanks for the help and thank you to anyone else who replys.

like I said I made the exaust but the headers I got the armour coat. I did do dyno tests theres a shop around the corner from my place. They let you in for 50 per hour. YOu can usally get four runs in.
ODB stands for On Board Diognostics. The ODB 1 is better cause its better for getting around high flow cats and emmisions.

Dont know much about escorts yet, but I got the ceramic plated Pacesetter version for my 94 sentra, it was about halfway to a great header. Worked fine in the end.
I saw that inside, where the 4 pipes meet, they had not made the cuts right, so the tubes were part blocked. I spent a nice hour with a long rat tail file, filed the occlusions down. It was 10 minutes on the head side to clear away welding splatter.
Its been 18 months, the ceramic still looks fine, no rust. Ran better as soon as I put it on. Cost was 224, a "real" header for sentra is 450 from Hotshot.
Paint ersion is known to rust immediately. They warn you the paint it meant to keep it rusting when on the shelf at the factory. You have to strip it and paint it with exhaust paint. Its easier to just get the ceramic version for another 75.
