Parking Brake indicator on 97 civic - controller issue?

I am having a problem with my parking brake indicator light comming on durring acceleration. To see if it is the switch I disconected it at the parking brake. Now the light does not come on with the brake engaged but will still come on durring acceleration. It will go out if I let off the accelerator for a period of time (not a fixed period) or if I let off the pedal and tap the brakes. I had been having electrical problems but those were fixed whith a new battery and engine ground. Both are now very nicely grounded as I ground off the paint to bare metal and used thicker wires. The park brake indicator problem had started before the other problem so it is hard to say if they are related.

I am assuming that there is some control unit that is resposible but I do not know the electrical system well enough to know which and where to find it. I little help would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I have tested the brake fluid and inspected pads and roters, all checked out fine.

Did a search, found this thread...

I am having the EXACT same problem with my 92 Integra parking brake indicator light. PLUS the brake pedal slowly sinks to the floor when sitting still. Why did no one reply to this thread in January?!

A few people I know are saying it's the master cylinder...but drew3007 isn't having the the sinking pedal problem. Just like his, my light comes on under acceleration, pulling slightly on the park brake I notice the light gets slightly brighter, which tells me it has nothing to do with the park brake. HELP!

Could it have anything to do with the brake fluid reservior cap/sensor?

sent you an email regarding this. I did get a response in a PM. I'll post here in case someone else has this problem. It was in fact a problem with the resivior float. Mine got stuck and made the car thing that the fluid was low and caused the parking brake indicator to go on. I got the float loose and doing its thing and the problem was solved.

As far as the pedal sinking to the floor. That has to do with air in your brake system. Bleed/flush the brakes and bleed the master cylinder if that doesn't help. If bleeding the whole system does not fix your problem, then you have a bad master cylinder.

Sweet, thanks for the reply, it has been on solid for the last two days, I'll tinker with it and be worry free. Except for the brakes themselves, which I'll take care of ASAP.

Thanks again, figured you had it ironed out by now.
