Yeah i read everything people say and they say put the 1g head and intake on the 2g because its better and bigger chambers. Now i called a professional shop i saw online and asked them about getting a 1g head, they asked me what i wanted to do with the head so i told them i want to put it on my 2g car. They said the 2g head and intake are alot better!!! Then they said why do you think they went with smaller chambers in the 2g? answer, it pushes more air faster at less boost. If i go with 1g stuff it takes more boost to push because its more space. Its only really good to do the swap if your doing something big like running T67 turbos and shit like that. But for you normal street turbos its better to stay 2g stuff, IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO ANY OF THIS?

nope

the more room air has to flow the more it will

There is some truth in that. The 2g head was designed for faster volosity airflow & do have a far better flow designs, but significantly restrict airflow in mid-higher rpms. If one were to port out the 2g head to 1g size, effecently, it would kick the shit out the 1g flow #'s.

So maybe keeping the 1g intake i just baught and getting my 2g head ported out would be alot better. I have a friend that has a machine shop so i can get it done for little or nothing.

This is also my opinion, but I can't find any numbers to back it up. So when my head gets ported, I will put it on the flowbench and post some numbers here.

I remember Kevin saying something along the lines of....that porting a head is very detailed and hard work. He said it wont usually come out perfect unless the person has experience with porting a dsm head.

Another thing is Mitsu. wanted the 2g car to feel less like a turbocharged car(its an econmy thing). This would result in smaller ports in the head and intake. This means more low rpm power and less at high rpm's compared to a 1g. But I heard driving a stock 1g car and than a stock 2g car, people have said that the 1g feels more like a turbocharged car in delays a bit(tiny lag) and than has that turbo feel after.

Up to you what you want to do, I'd go with the 1g head but if your buddy can do a nice a job on the head maybe try that if you want. Think I'd def go with a 1g intake, hands down. This is all just my 2 cents though. Good luck, give us an up date.

I did the 1g head swap and you could definitely feel the difference. With the t-25 is didn't benefit anything very much but with the Evo III 16g I had, the car definitely held a consistant boost reading all the way to redline. It doesn't sound like such a great feat but being able keep 17psi to redline on a t-25 deserves a gold metal!! I would highly recommend doing the swap, if you have the time and patience. It was quit the pain-in-the-ass to do but well worth it.

17psi to redline on that turbo WoW. I couldnt hold more than 10psi. But there is alot of work to when you are doing that swap. Just remeber all of the details. good luck.
