2001 Shortshifter?

Wussup all? i have a 2001 cavy with quite a few aftermarket things done and many to come! One thing i really would like to accomplish is the installation of a short shifter...HOWEVER, no one that i know or can find knows anything about doing it to my model. The shifter has the safety ring that must be pulled up in order to put the car in reverse. Every mechanic and car enthusiast i have spoken to says that they are not sure if its possible. Help anyone?:banghead:

yea the reverse lock is just a little piece of plastic that sits on the old knob and can b removed easily by replacing the whole thing with a short shifter so dont worry about the reverse lock, just know that when u get 1 u wont have the reverse lock anymore....i just now (today at 5:00) recieved my short shifter

correction....it does come with a reverse lock and you need to be VERY VERY VERY CARFULL WHEN YOU INSTALL THIS....i broke a little plastic piece clip that holds down the spring....and i now have to pay 100 bucks for the piece!
