Tranny is slipping

The fluid was changed at 50Kmiles, I'm now at 64kmiles. I checked the fluid, and it still has plenty. Yet My tranny has started to slip. Mainly while at speed. I willl try to accelerate from 55-60 to 65-70. I can feel and hear the tranny slip from 1700rmp to 2300rpm.

Any suggestions?

It will slip at lower speeds as well (20-30range). I still am under warranty from the dealer. I know if I take it in, the problem will be miraculously fixed, until I leave, after paying a troubleshooting fee.:banghead:

Put it in drive or reverse, foot on the brakes with gas pedal on the floor till the transmission frys itself. Shouldn't take much longer than 5-10 minutes tops. Wont hurt the engine as it will only rev to about 1500 to 2000 rpm. Then call the dealer to fix it.

does it slip in all the gears or just 3rd or 4th? Who changed the filter and is the fuild level good?

Have you checked that your MAF sensor is not fouled with oil from your K&N? I read in another post on this board (by GMMerlin, i think) that a gooey MAF can cause the tranny to slip.

I don't wanna fry the tranny, my luck they would be able to pin the damage on me!

I'm not 100%sure if it slips in all gears. Pretty sure it slips from 2-3 and definetely 3-4.

I changed the fluid and filter myself. The operation was rather straight forward (drain, unbolt, pull filter, install new filter (with o-ring), rebolt and fill). The level, as far as I can tell is good, fluid is still looks good.

Unfortunately when a tranny starts to slip there is no quick miracle fix short of an overhaul involving new clutch packs, bands and internal seals. Usually what starts the damage is heat causing the seals to go brittle. Once it starts to slip you've already damaged the friction material on the clutch packs of which there isn't much to start with. If you dont have a good heavy duty auxilliary transmission oil cooler, get one installed as the cooler the oil the longer it will last. Usually GM transmissions are quite good but ensure that the underlying problem which caused it to fail is fixed if you do overhaul it. Frying would only be a last resort if your dealer tried to pawn it off as normal.

I did a nice burnout this weekend only through 2 gears though.

I would do a complete Transmission Flush, before you make the expense of doing an overhaul.. My tranny will start to slip when it is time to service it.. After a tranny flush.. presto.. all better. In fact I am about due for one soon
