I have a fuel leak comming off the top of my tank only when the truck is running. I assume its one of the lines. But I was hoping someone had some experiance with this and could give me a good place to start. I will be pulling the tank tomorrow. Is this a common problem? Any help would be great! Thanks.

Only does it when running,
Sounds like the return line could be the culprit.

I ended up pulling the bed off and there was a pinhole in the supply line. But if anybody is going to do a fuel pump or sending unit or lines I would pull the bed without a second thought. It is very easy and makes the job much simpler!!

Thanks for the advice. Eventually I will be pulling my bed to swap the rear axle, add airbags and install a gooseneck hitch. Now I am thinking about cutting a hole in the bed directly above the fuel pump and covering it with a stainless steel or aluminium diamond tread plate.

Hi,
After the third fuel pump in three years, I decided to cut the hole while the tank was out so I wouldn't damage any fuel lines or wires.
Great! I have very good access now. Then I went to the local self serve wrecker (pick and pull) and cut a larger piece for a cover for $5.00.Smoothed the edges and painted it to match.
It looks normal, but it is covered most of the time by a diamond plate tool box.
