I was looking at this one MAF sensor on ebay where the guy cut out the honeycomb looking grille thing on the intake side and said it increased airflow. What is the purpose of the honeycomb thing and would it be worthwile to cut it out?

The purpose of the grille is to protect the sensors. Removing it will increase the airflow. You don't need to cut it out because it's held in by a snap ring which can be easily removed with a small flatblade screwdriver. Just be careful not to damage the sensor wires.

THis is just a guess on my part but similar honeycombs are used on small windtunnels to convert the airflow to a laminar flow. Think of the air flow from a fan, it rotates as it moves. by running it thru the honeycomb you break up the rotating air mass into smaller rotating masses that more simulate a straight line flow. and I will be the first to say that I have no idea why that is important to a MAF.

if I were to remove this honeycomb what would the pros and cons be?
Also the one in my 98 blazer is permanantly fixed....if I cut it out...there is no going back.

Awsome!!! now I can say my truck is a mod.....lmao....that is the cheapest, easyest and quickest mod I have ever seen....I did this before I even finished reading all of it...thanks.....now I wonder how much hp I have now...prob not much...but hey...Im all for improved hp and fuel milage....there are alot of things about this truck that GM has done that are usless, stupid and designed specificalyto create revenue. which i will be changing and moding in the future...like Ill be redesigning the fuel delivery system...I dont know about you but I dont like the idea of an electical component submerged in gasoline, plus the cost and pain of replacing the fuel pump. also the stearing system will be moded but that is in anouther post by rlith.....and many more Im sure when I run accross them.
