the sound changes if I push the accelerator a little bit to bring the rpms up. I read on one google result that new fluid and filter could solve this. If this tranny is going, I'm going to lose everything because I work in my car and.....same old sad story.
Anyway, someone please help

check your tranny fluid level. Read the operators manual for the correct instructions to do so. I want to say your level is too low.
The tranny must be warmed up some before you check the tranny fluid level. I look at mine cold and I thought I had way to much in, but once warm and in park the level was indeed correct.

it could be something else. have you tried listening from under the hood while someone pushes on the gas? I thought my tranny was going bad becasue i had the same sort of problem. A loud groan that you could feel, turns out it was my AC/compressor. took care of that and i dotn have that problem anymore.

I agree, try to listen and see where the sound is coming from. It could be your power steering pump, it could be your blower fan, or is could even be your radio. In my intrigue, when the blower is on a lower setting and set to floor or defrost, it makes a groan that varies with rpms. My bose radio also gets interference from the alternator and has a high pitched groan or squeal that is very faint, but clear enough to hear and it changes with rpms. Good luck in finding your problem.

I don't think it is anything like that, the groaning can be felt in the brake pedal and the sound is coming from the front of the car. My mechanic drove it and said that he thought it was a motor mount or something like that. He said the tranny gives no indication of a problem. Which I was glad to here, but I wonder if he was hasty in his quick diagnosis.
